Coach views Terps as favorite to land four-star lineman Quarvez Boulware

Hints have been dropped. But as of early Tuesday afternoon, Friendship Collegiate (D.C.) coach Mike Hunter remains unsure with which school his star offensive lineman, Quarvez Boulware, will sign on national signing day Wednesday.

Boulware will announce his decision at 5 p.m. today on FOX 5 DC, a choice that has come down to Maryland, Florida and Wake Forest. Who is the favorite in Hunter's opinion?

"I would say [Maryland is] the favorite," Hunter told The Baltimore Sun this afternoon. "But hopefully I know before 5." ranks the 6-foot-2, 285-pound Boulware as the 15th-best offensive guard recruit in the Class of 2015 and the third-best prospect from Washington, D.C.

While Maryland long has been considered the favorite to land Boulware, the Washington, D.C., native took an official visit to Florida this past weekend. Boulware is also high on Wake Forest, Hunter said.

"I think all three schools have done a pretty good job recruiting him," Hunter said. "He's keeping it close to the vest. Like I said, I'm hoping to find out before 5 o'clock today because I don't know what's going on, but I respect his wishes that he wanted to keep this hush as long as possible, so I didn't really try to badger him about telling me what he's thinking."

Three important factors for Boulware, Hunter said, are the strength of a degree from a school, how Boulware feels about the coaching staff and the chance for immediate playing time.

That seems to bode well for Maryland.

"I don't know if the proximity plays as big of a role as people would think," Hunter said. "I think Maryland's staff has really done a good job of letting him know what they have to offer him as a student-athlete. I think it's a bonus that it's close to home.

"But as you can see with his top three choices, I don't think distance is really playing a factor."
