AP ranking: No. 4Record: 6-0, 3-0Result: Defeated Rutgers, 78-0Last week: No. 2Up next: vs. Illinois (1-4, 0-2) on Oct. 22 Michigan and Ohio State are destined to jump back and forth over each other until their meeting in the final game of the season, so by virtue of the Wolverines’ dismantling of Rutgers, they get the top spot this week. A few things to know about that game: Rutgers had 6 yards of offense in the first half, which, according to ESPN, was the fewest in college football in almost two calendar years. Rutgers didn’t get a first down until nine minutes left -- in the game. Rutgers finished with 39 yards. Michigan had 600. It was so bad that Rutgers official Twitter account stopped live tweeting the game when it was 14-0 in the first quarter. After hiatus of 3 hours and 31 minutes, a final tweet was sent with a photo of Scarlet Knights players heading to the locker room with their heads down with the caption, “Tough loss tonight.” Indeed.
