Jairo Arrieta scored in the 80th minute on a cross from Taylor Kemp (Maryland) and visiting D.C. United rallied to tie the nine-man New England Revolution, 1-1, on Saturday night in Major League Soccer. D.C. United (6-2-4) remained atop the Eastern Conference — two points ahead of New England (5-3-5). New England was down two players for 32 minutes and played solid defense until Kemp's cross connected with the unmarked Arrieta in front of goal for the equalizer. Chris Tierney was given a red card in the 52nd minute after a studs-up tackle of Chris Pontius just outside the penalty area. Six minutes later, Lee Nguyen was sent off after receiving his second yellow card. It was Nguyen's first red card in his four-year MLS career. Charlie Davies gave New England a 1-0 lead in the first minute of stoppage time before the intermission. Juan Agudelo had his header blocked by goalkeeper Bill Hamid, but Davies pounced on the rebound for an easy tap-in. Each club had a long undefeated streak end in its previous match. The Revolution lost midweek to end a nine-game unbeaten streak, while United lost in stoppage time last week to end an eight-gamer.
National Women's Soccer League: The Western New York Flash (2-3-1) emerged with a 3-2 victory over the visiting Washington Spirit. Rookie Lynn Williams started the scoring for the Flash in the 11th minute when she took a through pass from Jasmyne Spencer and beat goalkeeper Kelsey Wys for her first professional goal. The Spirit equalized in the 24th minute after a penalty kick was awarded after a handball in the box. Washington's Christine Nairn (Archbishop Spalding) beat Flash starting goalkeeper Robyn Horner for her fourth goal of the season. The Flash went up 2-1 10 minutes from the end of the first half when Samantha Mewis headed in her second goal of the season off a lofted corner kick from Becky Edwards. Washington's Angela Salem tried to clear the ball off the line, but it was ruled in by the assistant referee. Crystal Dunn tied the score in the 55th minute on a breakaway goal, but Spencer scored the Flash's third goal just two minutes later. The 5-foot-1 forward was able to rise above the Spirit back line and powered a header past Wys.

Terps reach Big Ten baseball title game
Maryland scored four times in an error-prone seventh inning and beat Indiana, 4-2, on Saturday at Target Field in Minneapolis to advance to the Big Ten tournament championship game. The Terps (39-20) will face Michigan — a 5-3 winner over Illinois — in the title game today at 10:03 a.m. The Wolverines are coached by Erik Bakich, Maryland's coach from 2010 to 2012. Maryland's Robert Galligan (2-5) pitched 11/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win. Kevin Mooney (North Harford) earned his eighth save. The Terps' half of the seventh started with Nick Cieri striking out swinging but reaching first base on a wild pitch. Kengo Kawahara walked, then Kevin Biondic bunted and catcher Brad Hartong's throw to first was off the mark, enabling pinch-runner Zach Jancarski — who replaced Cieri — to score from second for the game's first run. Another error loaded the bases before Kevin Smith's fielder's choice added a run. Brandon Lowe had another fielder's choice RBI, and Kevin Martir added an RBI single. Indiana reliever Jake Kelzer (4-5) allowed four runs — none earned — in 11/3 innings. The Hoosiers (34-22) scored twice in the eighth to complete the scoring.
