The Blast recorded their 11th win of the Major Arena Soccer League season with a 5-4 victory over the host Mississauga MetroStars (3-14) on Sunday in Ontario, Canada. Jonatas Melo and Vini Dantas each finished with two points and William Vanzela made seven saves as the Blast outshot the MetroStars 33-18. The Blast (11-6), who sit one game back from Eastern Division leader Utica City FC (12-5), return home to SECU Arena next Sunday at 3p.m. to face the Kansas City Comets.
Major League Soccer: Luciano Acosta scored and assisted on Paul Arriola’s goal to help D.C. United beat defending champion Atlanta United, 2-0 in the MLS opener for both teams. D.C. United is unbeaten in its last 11 regular-season matches. Lucas Rodriguez, a 21-year-old Venezuelan, made his MLS debut after signing with D.C. United on loan from Estudiantes de La Plata. Bill Hamid had two saves for his fourth shutout in his past five regular-season starts.

JMU defeats Towson to secure share of CAA title
The James Madison women’s basketball team won at least a share of the Colonial Athletic Association regular-season title with a 63-56 victory over Towson. Kionna Jeter scored 16 points for the Tigers (17-10, 11-5). Lexie Barrier scored 20 points to lead the Dukes (23-4, 15-1).
