Outlook: For the first time since joining the Major Arena Soccer League in the 2014-15 season, the Blast is not in first place in the Eastern Division. While the defending league champions were falling to the Milwaukee Wave, 4-3, in their home opener last Friday night, the expansion Tropics were rallying to stun the San Diego Sockers, 6-5, in their first game, thus claiming the top spot in the division. After the Blast's dismal performance against the Wave — they could only muster five shots on goal in falling behind 4-1 going into the fourth quarter — they will be determined to make a better impression in front of the home crowd against the Tropics. The Blast must get more from their experienced players while newcomers adjust to the game and the team's system. Vini Dantas (five goals, one assist) and Tony Donatelli (two goals, six assists) are leading the offense with goalie William Vanzela and Adriano Dos Santos the glue in back. The Tropics come into the game on a high after knocking off the storied Sockers in dramatic come-from-behind fashion. They scored five fourth-quarter goals to rally from a 4-1 deficit, with Ricardo Diegues scoring the game-winner on a bicycle kick. Goalie Piotr Sliwa stopped eight shots in the win.
