Outlook: A near capacity crowd of 3,733 watched the Blast make a successful debut at SECU Arena with an exciting 8-7 win over the Cedar Rapids Rampage last Friday. The defending Major Arena Soccer League champions want to keep rolling in their new home with Eastern Division rival Syracuse up next. Blast forward Vini Dantas enjoyed a two-goal, two-assist performance in the opener while goalkeeper William Vanzela made 11 saves to hold off the Rampage. The Silver Knights have opened the season with three one-goal games, falling in the past two. The Blast defense will need to contain the one-two punch of Slavisa Ubiparipovic (five goals, three assists) and Joey Tavernese (five goals, two assists). Last season, the Blast won three of the four meetings against Syracuse. The first 1,000 kids who are 14 years old and under will receive an Adriano Dos Santos replica jersey T-shirt.
