As regular seasons go, this weekend is by far the biggest in a long time for the three-time defending Major Arena Soccer League champion Blast.

Outlook: The Blast comes into play one game behind Major Arena Soccer League Eastern Division leader Utica City FC, which has a 12-5 mark heading into its home game against the Harrisburg Heat on Sunday. Last Sunday, the Blast came back for an important 5-4 win at the Mississauga MetroStars to inch closer to the top spot in the division. After falling behind 3-0 in the first quarter, they pulled within 4-3 going into halftime and then got the game-tying and winning goals from Jonatas Melo with Vini Dantas assisting on both. Melo (16 goals, nine assists) and Dantas (15 goals, eight assists) are first and second in scoring for the Blast with goalie William Vanzela 10-6 with a 4.29 goals-against average. The Comets, second in the league’s South Central Division behind the Milwaukee Wave, have gone 5-2 in their past seven games. Veteran Leo Gibson (21 goals, 22 assists) is the team’s catalyst.
