Outlook: The Blast hosts the back end of a home-and-home series against the Silver Knights on Saturday night at 1st Mariner Arena following the first game in Syracuse on Friday night. In its last game, the Blast failed to protect a lead against the Missouri Comets in a 14-11 loss last Saturday — its first defeat at 1st Mariner Arena after nine straight home wins to start this season. With a 15-5 record, the Blast remains in second place in the Major Indoor Soccer League, 1 1/2 games behind the Milwaukee Wave (15-2). Expect the Blast to rebound this weekend against last-place Syracuse, which heads into the weekend with a 6-13 mark. The Blast, which has already clinched a playoff spot, has won all three meetings against Syracuse this season — averaging 17 points per game and limiting the Silver Knights to under 10. With only three games separating the final five teams in the MISL — Missouri (9-10), the Chicago Soul (8-12), the Rochester Lancers (7-12), the Wichita Wings (6-12) and Syrcause — the Silver Knights still have plenty of motivation heading into the final month of the regular season. The Blast will have four games left after the weekend and want to prepare for the playoffs. Machel Millwood continues to lead a balanced offense with 59 points, which is tied for fifth in the league with Syracuse's Neto.
