The Blast signed Brazilian native Elton Lexandro de Oliveira Santos on Thursday to bolster its defense.
A 31-year-old who has played professional outdoor soccer, Elton has spent the past two years in Romania playing for Liga I's CS Gaz Metan Medias.
"Elton is a quality player with the technical ability to come in and have an immediate impact on our team and help us win games," Blast coach Danny Kelly said in a written release.
The Blast also announced it will be having open tryouts on Oct. 8-9 from 9 a.m. to noon, set to take place at the Southeast Regional Recreation Center on North Point Boulevard. For more information and an application, please go to baltimoreblast.com.
The team will open its 2016-17 Major Arena Soccer League season on Nov. 5 when it travels to Harrisburg to take on the Heat. The Blast's home opener will take place Nov. 11 against the Milwaukee Wave.
