Ravens fans: Do you really think the Ravens could find a better QB than Joe Cool?

Frankly, I'm amazed at some of the mail that I've been getting in the aftermath of the Ravens' loss to the Patriots in the AFC championship game. Even after Joe Flacco delivered what appeared to be a title-winning TD pass to Lee Evans (that went uncaught through no fault of of the quarterback) and out played Tom Brady for the last three quarters of the game, there are people out there who want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Okay, I have never really had a clue what that saying means. If you're going to throw the baby out, there's no reason to save the bathwater. It makes no sense. My point here is that Flacco is good enough to get the Ravens to the Super Bowl and he's clearly the best quarterback in Ravens history, so what's not to like? I mean, are you really that spoiled?

Did you fail to notice that he got to the last minute of the AFC title game with a rookie wide receiver catching a bunch of key passes (including a game-winner in Pittsburgh) and two young tight ends? Did you think the offensive line consistently gave him the kind of protection that would have allowed him to pick apart a defense the way Aaron Rodgers does?

I think they should sign Flacco to a six-year deal and continue to tweak the offensive scheme to maximize his talents and establish the proper balance to also maximize the production of Ray Rice. What say you?

Oh, and check out my column on this very subject in Sports.
