The Orioles have grown so accustomed to winning tight games that it must have been galling to walk off Progressive Field a loser on a walk-off home run Friday night, but there was no reason for head-hanging after that defeat. For one thing, they did what they do best, battling a top-tier starting pitcher (Corey Kluber) to a draw to give themselves a chance to win. For another, the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays lost, too, so the status quo was maintained in the American League East standings. For still one more thing, the first game of their big West Coast road trip ended in a discouraging walk-off loss in Oakland, and look how that trip turned out.
