Rick Wagner tops Ravens in performance-based pay for 2nd straight year

Rick Wagner rewarded for playing a lot while making little in comparison.

For the second straight season, starting right tackle Rick Wagner is the team's top earner in the performanced-based pay program.

Wagner, who started all 16 games for the Ravens in 2015, gets a payout of $237,349.95.

The NFL's performanced-based pay program compensates players with extra money for their playing time based upon a comparison to their salary level. Essentially, the system rewards the players who make the least, yet play the most.

Wagner, a fifth-round pick in 2013, is still playing under his four-year, $2.281 million rookie contract. He's eligible for free agency after the 2016 season.

Rounding out the Ravens' top five in performanced-based pay in 2016 were wide receiver Kamar Aiken ($199,880.72), offensive tackle James Hurst ($153,255.07), guard/center John Urschel ($146,548.25) and linebacker Zachary Orr ($137,684.90).
