Ravens officially place Kyle Arrington, Benjamin Watson on IR

The Ravens still have four moves to make to get down to 75 by 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Ravens made their first round of roster moves Monday morning, placing tight end Benjamin Watson and cornerback Kyle Arrington on injured reserve and letting go of nine other players.

The moves leave the Ravens with 79 players on their roster. They'll have to get down to 75 by 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Watson, the veteran who was signed to a two-year deal this offseason, tore his right Achilles tendon in Saturday's preseason victory over the Detroit Lions.

Arrington, the veteran cornerback who took a paycut this offseason to stay with the Ravens for another year, sustained a concussion in the team's first preseason game on Aug.11. He hasn't practiced since.

The Ravens also terminated the contract of inside linebacker Kavell Conner and waived quarterback Jerrod Johnson, wide receivers Dobson Collins, Chuck Jacobs and Darius White, offensive linemen Anthony Fabiano and Jarell Broxton, outside linebacker Mario Ojemudia and defensive tackle Trevon Coley.

None of the moves were considered a surprise.

The Ravens return to practice this morning. They'll face the New Orleans Saints Thursday in the final preseason game.
