Bernard Pierce, Matt Elam out of second straight practice for Ravens

Ravens safety Matt Elam and running back Bernard Pierce missed a second straight practice for the Ravens Tuesday, while tight end Owen Daniels, who missed two weeks with leg fatigue, practiced for the second consecutive day.

Elam is dealing with "a little leg issue," coach John Harbaugh said Monday, and is expected back later this week. Pierce was injured on a hit to the head by Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather in Saturday's preseason game, and left the game to go through the league's concussion protocol.

Harbaugh said Pierce was feeling "a lot better" Monday, and said the trainers described his injury "as a mild concussion."

Cornerback Asa Jackson, who injured his ankle on Sunday, Aug. 10 in a practice with the San Francisco 49ers, was back on the practice field testing his ankle with running drills alongside the team's medical staff.

Wide receiver Kamar Aiken, who is battling for one of the final spots on the roster, also returned after missing Monday's practice.

Cornerback Lardarius Webb (back), cornerback Jimmy Smith (chest), and guard/tackle Jah Reid (concussion) rounded out the long-term absentees for Tuesday, the Ravens' final practice ahead of Thursday's preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints.
