Statue for John Harbaugh to be erected at Miami University of Ohio in April

John Harbaugh was told last offseason that his alma mater, Miami University of Ohio, planned on erecting a statue of him to celebrate his status as a Super Bowl-winning head coach.

Now, Harbaugh knows exactly when it will happen.

The school announced Wednesday that Harbaugh, a 1984 graduate of Miami University, will be inducted into the Cradle of Coaches Association and immortalized with a statue at Yager Stadium on Saturday, April 19.

The statue, which will be erected in the Cradle of Coaches Plaza, will be a bronze, full-body image depicting Harbaugh coaching on the sideline during the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Harbaugh's statue will be the latest one added to the Cradle of Coaches, which also includes statues of Earl Blaik, Paul Brown, Carm Cozza, Paul Dietzel, Weeb Ewbank, Ara Parseghian, John Pont and Bo Schembechler.

The statues celebrate coaches who have earned recognition as national collegiate or professional coaches of the year, who have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame or the Pro Football Hall of Fame, or whose teams won national collegiate or Super Bowl championships.

A depiction of Harbaugh will also be added to the Cradle of Coaches mural that is on the front of the scoreboard at Yager Stadium.
