Doss' work in slot played role in active status vs. Browns

Rookie Tandon Doss’ success as a possession receiver has led to comparisons to Anquan Boldin, whose absence because of knee surgery allowed Doss to play in the Ravens’ 20-14 win against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday.

Doss’ experience as a slot receiver also helped convince the coaching staff to activate him over fellow rookie LaQuan Williams, who has four catches for 46 yards – which is four catches and 46 yards more than what Doss has recorded.

“I think Tandon has worked hard,” coach John Harbaugh said during his news conference Monday. “He is a slot receiver, which Anquan is a slot receiver. That’s probably the biggest factor. That’s where he has majored throughout the course of the year. He can play inside or outside. You’re asking as compared to LaQuan, right? So LaQuan can play inside and outside, too, but Tandon has probably majored more inside behind Anquan. He has kind of been behind Anquan there for most of the year.”
