Grubbs returns to practice, but not Lewis, Birk

The good news for the Ravens is that starting left guard Ben Grubbs returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday’s session with what the team described as a toe issue.

But for the second straight day, two other starters in inside linebacker Ray Lewis and center Matt Birk did not participate during the portion of practice open to the media.

Lewis, who has missed the last three games due to a turf toe injury on his right foot, was absent. Birk, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, was present but watched from the sideline.

Cornerback Chris Carr (back) was also absent for the second consecutive day. Rookie running back Anthony Allen (hamstring) took part in practice.
