Evans gets in the game

Lee Evans finally got a chance to do what he does best.

The Ravens wide receiver caught his first pass in nine games, an eight-yard grab in Thursday night’s 16-6 win against the San Francisco 49ers.

One reception isn’t usually cause for celebration, but for Evans, who sat out seven consecutive games because of a nagging left ankle injury, his contribution was a reminder of his future, not his past.

“Everything else is behind us, and me in my situation, being hurt, I’m putting it behind me and moving forward,” he said.

Evans’ catch proved crucial as it helped the offense convert on third down-and-7 in the third quarter. A little later in the drive, quarterback Joe Flacco connected with tight end Dennis Pitta for an eight-yard touchdown strike that snapped a 6-6 tie.

“It’s been a long time,” Evans said of the reception. “I never forget what it feels like, but it was good to get one in. So it’s good.”
