Ravens camp highlights (Aug. 15): Team braves rain, participates in uptempo walk-through

Practicing in the rain: For just the second time during training camp, rain drenched Tuesday morning's session, but unlike the Aug. 7 practice, the team stayed outdoors. The workout ended at 10:20 a.m., but special teams remained outside for at least another 45 minutes before every player was inside the training facility in Owings Mills.

Blame it on the rain: Quarterback Ryan Mallett went through the session without getting intercepted, but his teammates were not quite as fortunate. Josh Woodrum was intercepted by cornerback Robertson Daniel and free safety Tony Jefferson, who used his left hand to pull in a ball that had bounced off tight end Larry Donnell's hands. Thaddeus Lewis was picked off by strong safety Eric Weddle and inside linebacker Patrick Onwuasor.

Payne wasn't fooled: The offense went to a trick play with running back Danny Woodhead taking a handoff from Mallett and pitching the ball to wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who tossed the ball back to Mallett. But rookie inside linebacker Donald Payne sniffed out the play and pressured Mallett into throwing the ball out of bounds.

The Ravens open the season in about 3 1/2 weeks. They better hope they get some offensive regulars back soon.

Flags for the offense: The offense committed a few penalties. Center Ryan Jensen was cited for holding to open a hole for Woodhead on a catch, either Maclin or wide receiver Mike Wallace was guilty of moving before the ball was snapped, and right tackle De'Ondre Wesley was flagged for a false start.

Tucker back taking field goals: After getting Monday off, Justin Tucker returned to practice and converted 5-of-6 field goals. The kicker pulled a 44-yarder wide left, but nailed a 53-yarder three reps later.

Name that tune: The full-team portion of practice opened with Rick Ross' "So Sophisticated" and continued with Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall," Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out," Boogie's "Oh My," The Fratellis' "Chelsea Dagger," and Creedance Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising." The final song of practice was The Raconteurs' "Attention."

Injury update: After sitting out Monday's session, a pair of rookies in wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo (left leg) and guard Jermaine Eluemunor (unspecified) returned to practice. Players continuing to miss multiple practices include wide receivers Breshad Perriman (right hamstring tightness), Kenny Bell (hamstring), and rookie Tim White (torn thumb ligaments), offensive tackles Ronnie Stanley (undisclosed) and Stephane Nembot (unspecified), guards Alex Lewis (torn labrum) and rookie Nico Siragusa (torn ACL, MCL, and PCL in left knee), cornerbacks Brandon Boykin (undisclosed) and Maurice Canady (torn cartilage in knee), running back Kenneth Dixon (torn meniscus in left knee), quarterback Joe Flacco (back), and inside linebacker Lamar Louis (unspecified).

Cornerback Tavon Young (torn ACL in left knee) remains on the team's physically unable to perform list. Outside linebacker Terrell Suggs and cornerback Jimmy Smith did not participate, but may have been recipients of a day off for veterans.

Overheard: While answering a question about the offense's target goals for Thursday night's preseason game at the Miami Dolphins, coach John Harbaugh said he could talk about what he and the coaches are looking for from every position. "But it would take too long," he said. "And I'm wet."
