Missouri RB Tyler Badie is first of Ravens’ 11 draft picks to sign rookie deal

Running back Tyler Badie signed with the Ravens on Thursday, the team announced, becoming the first of the team’s 11-member draft class to ink his rookie deal.

A sixth-round pick out of Missouri, the 5-foot-8, 197-pound Badie set the school’s single-season rushing record and led the Southeastern Conference with 1,604 yards in 2021. He also rushed for 14 touchdowns and led the Tigers with 54 catches for 330 yards and four touchdowns.

Being drafted by the Ravens was a homecoming of sorts for the 22-year-old Badie. In 2005, the Badie family was displaced from their home in New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina and moved to Randallstown. Badie played recreation football for the Owings Mills Wolfpack before attending Friends School in Baltimore from sixth to 10th grade. He then played his junior season at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, Tennessee, before committing to Missouri.

Badie, who started just one year for the Tigers, became the first player in school history to reach 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving. With running backs J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are all returning from season-ending injuries, he could play a big role for the Ravens early in the season.
