Staff picks for the Ravens-Redskins game

Jen Badie: Ravens 27, Redskins 17
This is not quite a must-win, but after the Raiders loss and two road games next up, it's close. The Ravens now have the No. 1 defense (at 256 yards allowed per game), and the offense showed improvements late against Oakland; if Joe Flacco can get more protection and time to throw the football, the Ravens should win.

Edward Lee: Ravens 23, Redskins 17
Washington has the kind of quarterback in Kirk Cousins who can air it out and feast on the Ravens' vulnerable secondary. But the Redskins defense has been porous all season, and Terrance West, Kenneth Dixon and Javorius "Buck" Allen should be able to pound out some yards for the win.

Mike Preston: Ravens 28, Redskins 24
The Redskins have enough offensive firepower to keep this game close, and enough to win if the Ravens can cover on the back end of defense. But Washington's offensive line isn't as big or strong as Oakland's last week, and the Ravens should be able to control the tempo of this contest with a running game. Receiver Mike Wallace could have a big game for the Ravens.

Peter Schmuck: Ravens 31, Redskins 16
The Ravens offense will kick into gear now that there is clarity in the run game. They also should be plenty motivated to avoid two straight losses at home after getting off to such a good start. It will all depend, of course, on how the offensive line protects Joe Flacco this week, but look for the Ravens to figure that out and hit the grass running.

Mark Selig: Ravens 27, Redskins 24
The offense might have found something in the second half of the Raiders game that it can continue against an unproven Redskins defense. These teams seem to be about even, so the Ravens being at home will be the difference in what will inevitably be another close game.

Childs Walker: Ravens 20, Redskins 16
The Redskins will challenge the Ravens, much as the Raiders did, with an accurate quarterback who doesn't take many sacks. But Washington hasn't defended the run or the pass effectively, and the Ravens, playing at home, should be able to control the Redskins more than the Redskins control them.

Jeff Zrebiec: Ravens, 27, Redskins 24
The only thing the Ravens have done consistently this season is make sure the outcome of their game is in doubt in the final minutes. It's anybody's guess what team shows up Sunday, but the Ravens don't traditionally lose back-to-back games at home and Kirk Cousins hasn't been as good as Derek Carr this season.
