Joe Flacco takes blame for Ravens' turnovers

"We're just not the type of team that's finding ways to win right now," said Ravens QB Joe Flacco after his team's last-second, 22-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. (Kevin Richardson/Baltimore Sun video)

With 10 interceptions through nine games, Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is on pace for 18 picks this season, which would be six more than he threw last season and the second most in his career.

He has played four games without starting left tackle Eugene Monroe, and he has had a revolving door of targets, which now doesn't include Steve Smith Sr., who is done for the year with an Achilles tendon injury. He's also still getting acclimated with offensive coordinator Marc Trestman, the Ravens' fourth playcaller in as many seasons.

However, when he reviews the Ravens' turnovers, Flacco attributes many of them to bad decision-making on his part.

"Overall, I would say I have turned the ball over more," said Flacco, who finished with a career-high 22 interceptions in 2013. "Maybe they weren't all bad decisions, but I would say that I've probably made more bad decisions, and that's why there's a little bit more of them. It comes down to game day and reacting, playing within yourself. I probably haven't done that as well as I have in the past."

Linebacker Elvis Dumervil (knee), left guard Kelechi Osemele (knee) and tight end Nick Boyle (foot) missed practice Wednesday. Dumervil said he was fine, while Boyle, who was wearing a boot on his foot, wouldn't disclose the severity of his injury. … Running back Terrance West (Towson) was promoted from the practice squad to fill center Jeremy Zuttah's spot. "It's just a blessing," West said. "I want to help them get some wins. Just to be a part of the team is amazing." … Ravens coach John Harbaugh said wide receiver Kaelin Clay, who was signed off the Detroit Lions practice squad Tuesday, was brought in to compete for the open punt return job. … Tight end Konrad Reuland was re-signed to the practice squad. … Cornerback Asa Jackson cleared waivers and reverted to injured reserve, leaving the Ravens with 17 players on IR.
