The Ravens have signed former practice squad player Nicholas Grigsby to their 90-man roster, the team announced Wednesday. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker will fill the spot vacated by wide receiver Jordan Lasley, whom the Ravens waived earlier.
Grigsby, 27, was undrafted out of Pittsburgh in 2016 before signing with the Los Angeles Rams. Two weeks after the Rams waived him before the start of the 2017 regular season, the Ravens added him to their practice squad. The New England Patriots signed him in late November that year, and he appeared in five games and had five tackles in their run to Super Bowl LII.
Last season, Grigsby had 10 tackles in nine games for the Patriots, who released him in mid-November. In three games with the Detroit Lions, he had 10 tackles, but they cut him in February.
Grigsby’s primary contributions have come on special teams. He has just 42 defensive snaps over his three-year NFL career, but he’s averaged over 15 special teams snaps per game the past two seasons.
