Ravens highlights for Aug. 5

PLAY OF THE DAY:

Tandon Doss saved an interception, stripping a Joe Flacco pass from Ed Reed. Not too bad for a rookie in his eighth practice against a seven-time Pro Bowl player.

CATCH(ES) OF THE DAY:

Cary Williams made two interceptions and ran one back for a touchdown. As the fifth cornerback, he will be constantly fighting for a spot on the roster.

TOO LONG:

Rookie wide receiver Torrey Smith twice outran defenders in one-on-one drills and Flacco overthrew him both times. Reed gave Flacco some ribbing after the second one.

OVERHEARD:

"Keep your flags in your pocket." Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron told the referees at practice during a drill in which the wide receivers were very physical.

INJURIES:

TE Ed Dickson (undisclosed) missed his first practice of camp along with RB Matt Lawrence (undisclosed). … WR David Reed (wrist), OT Ramon Harewood (knees), DT Brandon McKinney (knee) and LS Morgan Cox (knee) remain on the physically-unable-to-perform list. … CB Jimmy Smith (groin) missed his fourth straight day of practice. … WR James Hardy (hamstring) has been sidelined for three of the past four practices. … WR Hakeem Moore (foot), of Towson University, returned to practice.

SATURDAY'S SCHEDULE:

The only practice open to fans will start at 10 a.m. at M&T Bank Stadium. Gates open at 9 a.m. The event is free.
