Former Ravens center Matt Skura agrees to deal with Dolphins

Former Ravens center Matt Skura has agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed. The terms of the deal are not yet known.

Undrafted out of Duke in 2016, Skura started 51 games over his five years in Baltimore, including the past 29 as center.

Skura, 28, was one of the NFL’s top-rated centers before he tore the ACL, PCL and MCL in his left knee in November 2019. He completed his rehabilitation in time to start in Week 1 last season, and he started the Ravens’ first nine games overall.

But inaccurate snaps in a rain-soaked loss to the New England Patriots led to Skura’s benching. After Patrick Mekari took over, Skura still averaged 17.2 snaps over the next five weeks, often joining the offense as a sixth offensive lineman.

Skura, who finished the season ranked fourth in ESPN’s Pass Block Block Rate among centers, is expected to contend for Miami’s starting center role. Ted Karras, the team’s 2020 starter, reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the New England Patriots on Wednesday.
