Ravens announce signing of D.J. Fluker, a favorite to start at guard

The Ravens have signed guard D.J. Fluker, the team confirmed Monday, adding a longtime starting lineman to the team’s battle at right guard.

Fluker and the Ravens agreed to terms April 28, a day after the Seattle Seahawks released the 29-year-old to save $3.6 million in salary cap space. Terms of his new deal were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-5, 342-pound Fluker, who has started 88 games over his NFL career, including 23 over the past two years in Seattle, will be a top contender to replace All-Pro guard Marshal Yanda. Second-year lineman Ben Powers and rookies Ben Bredeson and Tyre Phillips are also in the mix.

In Baltimore, Fluker will reunite with Ravens offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris, who oversaw the San Diego Chargers’ line for Fluker’s first three NFL seasons. According to Pro Football Focus, the Alabama product and former first-round pick allowed six sacks and committed seven penalties in 2019 and did not rank among the NFL’s top 40 guards.
