The Ravens will be without three players for Sunday's home opener against the Cleveland Browns and another two are questionable to play.
Outside linebacker Za'Darius Smith (knee, ankle) and defensive backs Jaylen Hill (hamstring) and Sheldon Price (concussion) were all ruled out after not practicing all week, leaving the team thin at both outside linebacker and cornerback. Wide receiver/punt returner Michael Campanaro (ankle) and outside linebacker Tim Williams (illness) are questionable for the game. Both were limited participants in Friday's practice.
If Williams is unable to play — he wasn't able to practice Thursday, but he did join Friday's workout after the media viewing period had ended — the Ravens would be down to just three healthy outside linebackers: Terrell Suggs, Matthew Judon and Tyus Bowser.
It also would be a missed opportunity for Williams, the rookie third-round draft pick who was a healthy scratch for Sunday's season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. Williams is considered the next man up on the rush linebacker depth chart behind Suggs and Smith.
"I never wish any teammate to get hurt in a game for my own personal gain, but at the same time, I'm just happy to go in there and do what I need to do to help the team win," Williams said earlier in the week.
Williams said he has no gripes with the coaches' decision to sit him last Sunday. And he shooed away any notion of stress filling in for Smith, who had made three tackles, one sack and one quarterback hit before leaving early in the second quarter against the Bengals.
"I welcome pressure," Williams said. "I know that college is different from the NFL. But playing at Alabama, we were playing for national championships with the stadium going crazy. So I'm used to that spotlight. It's just that the pressure is probably going to come from being able to go out there and be able to play free."
The Ravens have the option of calling up outside linebacker Boseko Lokombo or one of their two cornerbacks, Reggie Porter and Tony McRae, from the practice squad by 4 p.m. on Saturday. If Campanaro is sidelined — he got hurt in Friday's practice — the Ravens would likely rely on safety Lardarius Webb to field punts.
