The Ravens placed guard Ben Cleveland on the nonfootball injury list Wednesday morning before the first full-team practice of training camp, the team announced.
In the past, the Ravens have placed players who failed the conditioning test on the nonfootball injury list just before training camp. It’s unclear if Cleveland or anyone else failed the test.
Cleveland, a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft, appeared in 12 games and started four last season. He’s expected to battle Tyre Phillips and Ben Powers for the starting spot at left guard during training camp.
Gaither, who was initially signed by the Green Bay Packers after going undrafted out of San Jose State in 2021, tried out for the Ravens on Tuesday. He took part in training camp with the Packers before announcing he would retire from football in August.
The 25-year-old quickly returned to football, however, and had 24 catches for 328 yards and four touchdowns with the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers. Gaither had 135 receptions for 2,227 yards and 18 touchdowns in college.
