Ravens sign former Bengals tackle Andre Smith, place guard Parker Ehinger on IR

The Ravens have signed former Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Andre Smith, the team announced Wednesday. Guard Parker Ehinger (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve in a corresponding move.

Smith, who turns 33 on Jan. 25, is a former first-round NFL draft pick who’s spent most of his career with the Bengals. He started five games for Cincinnati this season and last appeared in a Week 10 loss to the Ravens. The Bengals cut him Nov. 30.

According to Pro Football Focus, Smith allowed three sacks in 169 pass-block snaps and committed three penalties in 254 overall. His player rating would have ranked among that of the worst tackles on the analytics website.

Ehinger, 27, whom the Ravens promoted from their practice squad in late November, appeared in a Week 15 win over the New York Jets and started against Pittsburgh in the regular-season finale. Harbaugh was complimentary of Ehinger’s play against the Steelers, saying he was "knocking people off the ball. "
