3 key stats heading into the Ravens-Dolphins game

The Ravens are clinging to a 7-6 edge in their series with the Miami Dolphins, and that includes a 2-0 record in the postseason. The two teams have met in Baltimore just three times, with the Ravens winning twice. The Ravens have won five of the last six matchups. History appears to be favoring the Ravens, who have won more than 68 percent of their games at home in December, which ranks as the seventh-highest success rate among other NFL franchises.

Here are three stats to keep in mind before Sunday's 1 p.m. game at M&T Bank Stadium.

1 and 2: That's the NFL ranking for the Dolphins and Ravens in third-down defense, respectively. Opponents have converted a league-low 33.3 percent of their third downs against Miami, while the Ravens have surrendered first downs on third down just 33.6 percent of the time.

8½: Terrell Suggs has recorded 8½ sacks and 18 tackles against the Dolphins in seven meetings. Both totals are the most the Ravens outside linebacker has enjoyed against a non-AFC North opponent.

9-10: The Dolphins have compiled a 9-10 record in cold-weather cities between December and February since 2003. Conversely, the Ravens are 35-15 at home in December and January since 1996.
