Maryland men’s basketball to play at Clemson in ACC/B1G Challenge

The Maryland men’s basketball team will play at Clemson on Dec. 9 as part of the ACC/B1G Challenge, the athletic department announced Friday.

It will be the first matchup between the former Atlantic Coast Conference foes since the Terps joined the Big Ten Conference in 2014.

Maryland holds an 11-10 all-time record in the Challenge as a member of the ACC and Big Ten; its 11 wins are tied for fourth all-time among participating teams.

The Terps have yet to release a full schedule for the 2020-21 season, but are expected to host George Mason in December as part of their nonconference schedule, according to a source. Big East commissioner Val Ackerman announced Wednesday that the 2020 Gavitt Tipoff Games between the Big Ten and Big East would be canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
