Just how remarkable was Lamar Jackson’s MVP season? Six visualizations put the Ravens quarterback’s performance in perspective.

Lamar Jackson’s 2019 season was one for the record books.

One year after helping lead the Ravens to the playoffs as a rookie quarterback, Jackson established himself as one of NFL’s top players and the face of the league’s top regular-season team. His production might never be replicated — in Baltimore or elsewhere.

Jackson accounted for an NFL-high 43 touchdowns, including a franchise-record 36 passing touchdowns. He rushed for 1,206 yards, the most in a single season by a quarterback. He opened the regular season with a perfect passer rating, his first of two such performances, and ended it as the leading rusher on the most productive running team in NFL history.

All of which made one thing clear: He was the NFL’s Most Valuable Player, the first player in Ravens history to win the league’s highest individual honor.

Lamar Jackson’s 2019 passes

Jackson threw for a touchdown on 9% of his pass attempts in 2019, the highest rate in the NFL and the best in Ravens history. Of all the quarterbacks to have attempted at least 400 passes in a single season in NFL history, Jackson trails only Peyton Manning in terms of single-season touchdown rate. Manning threw his 49 touchdown passes in 2004 at a 9.9% rate.
