Ravens outside linebacker Za'Darius Smith cost his team 15 yards and some valuable time with his high hit in the fourth quarter on New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in last week's 24-16 loss. He also cost himself a good chunk of money.

Smith was fined $18,231 for his roughing the passer penalty. Smith appeared to make contact with Fitzpatrick's head.

The penalty, which came on a second-and-19 play with under 13 minutes to play in the fourth quarter and the Ravens trailing by eight, gave the Jets a first down.

Smith, who played all 68 defensive snaps with Terrell Suggs missing the game because of a torn biceps, finished the game with three tackles.
