Yanda scratched, Tucker expected to handle kicking duties

The Ravens' inactive list didn't offer any major surprises, but there are indications that rookie kicker Justin Tucker will handle the kicking duties tonight against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

That would involve giving incumbent kicker Billy Cundiff the night off. Cundiff has been locked in a tight competition with Tucker, an undrafted free agent from the University of Texas.

Just because Tucker gets an extended workload tonight doesn't mean that the kicking competition is over, though. It's still expected to go down to the end of the preseason.

Cundiff indicated last week that he was informed by coach John Harbaugh that the job is his to lose. So far, he has yet to miss any field goals during a preseason game.

Tucker has been perfect as well, booting a 50-yarder against the Detroit Lions last week.

Meanwhile, the Ravens scratches include Pro Bowl offensive guard Marshal Yanda (leg), wide receiver David Reed (ACL surgery), linebackers Josh Bynes (cracked vertebrae), Darryl Blackstock (groin, ankle) and Terrell Suggs (Achilles tendon), offensive tackle Jah Reid (strained right calf), tight ends Ed Dickson (sprained right shoulder) and Dennis Pitta (broken right hand) and defensive lineman Ryan McBean (broken left ankle).

Yanda is out as a precautionary measure due to a minor leg injury.

The Ravens are also expected to hold out linebacker Sergio Kindle due to a left shoulder stinger.

Backup safety Sean Considine (undisclosed) is warming up with no apparent restrictions after wearing a red non-contact shirt over his jersey in practice all week.

Defensive end Pernell McPhee is warming up after missing practice all week following a death in his family.

Veteran Bobbie Williams is shifting over to right guard to start tonight's game with rookie second-round draft pick Kelechi Osemele starting at left guard. Offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie is slated to start on the left side with Michael Oher moving to right tackle.

Pitta is out of the cast after breaking his right hand and undergoing surgery earlier this month.

Pitta is expected to miss the remainder of the preseason.

Dickson is also out for the preseason.
