Visanthe Shiancoe watches practice with the Ravens

Former Morgan State standout and 10-year NFL veteran tight end Visanthe Shiancoe watched Friday's practice with Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome.

Though the Ravens currently have five tight ends on their roster, including veterans Dennis Pitta, Ed Dickson and Billy Bajema, there is a chance that they sign Shiancoe and give him an opportunity to compete for the third tight end spot.

Shiancoe, a 33-year-old who tried out with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week, played four games with the New England Patriots last season but didn't catch a pass.

In 10 NFL seasons, including five productive years with the Minnesota Vikings, Shiancoe caught 243 passes for 2,677 yards and 27 touchdowns.
