INDIANAPOLIS — Towson defensive end Ryan Delaire pulled his groin while running the 40-yard dash Sunday morning at the NFL scouting combine and was instructed by trainers to discontinue the remainder of his workout.

Delaire was injured at Lucas Oil Stadium in the midst of running a 4.97 time, slower than he'd hoped for after saying he had set his goal on a 4.6 to 4.7.

"He probably should have stopped, but he wanted to finish," said Greg Linton, Delaire's agent. "Ryan will be fine. He did a good job here this week."

Delaire, who is projected as a late-round draft pick, is scheduled to work out again April 1 at his Pro Day workout on the Towson campus.

A third-team All-American Delaire recorded 11 sacks last season and finished with a total of 22.5 sacks in two seasons for Towson after transferring from Massachusetts.

Delaire was forced to decline invitations to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and Medal of Honor all-star games after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in late December.
