Terrell Suggs returns to practice Thursday for Ravens

Terrell Suggs said Wednesday that he would be a game-time decision for the Ravens for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins. The outside linebacker took a step in the right direction Thursday, returning to the practice field just four days after he tore his right biceps.

Early in practice, Suggs strutted onto the field with defensive tackle Haloti Ngata and defensive end Arthur Jones. He then pretended to hide from the media behind his big-bodied teammates.

His quick return from a torn muscle, which he suffered in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, might have been more surprising had he not done it already this season. But Suggs, who has been playing with a surgically-repaired right Achilles tendon, vowed Wednesday to return from his biceps injury before the end of the season, perhaps as soon as Sunday.

"You just have to find your limit," Suggs said Wednesday. "You have to find out what you can do and what you can't do. Like I said, right now, I would tell you I feel good and I was definitely playing. It's not always the case on a Sunday. You have to know what exactly it is you can do."

Suggs was listed as limited, but presence Thursday suggests he hopes to suit up Sunday.

It was the first time that Suggs and inside linebacker Ray Lewis practiced together this season. Lewis, who isn't eligible to return from injured reserve until Dec. 16 against the Denver Broncos, practiced for a second straight day. All indications are that Lewis will return from his torn right triceps in Week 15.

Lewis and cornerback Jimmy Smith both practiced for a second consecutive day.

Smith, who is working his way back from hernia surgery, was limited in practice Wednesday.

The only two players absent from practice Thursday were linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (foot/ankle) and tight end Ed Dickson (knee), who both sat out Sunday's loss at M&T Bank Stadium.

Cornerback Asa Jackson (shoulder), wide receiver Jacoby Jones (ankle), and safety Ed Reed (shoulder) were limited. Cornerbacks Chykie Brown (ankle) and Chris Johnson (thigh), linebacker Josh Bynes (thigh), safeties James Ihedigbo (calf) and Bernard Pollard (chest), fullback Vonta Leach (ankle), and defensive end Pernell McPhee (thigh) participated fully.
