The Cincinnati Bengals worked out former Ravens safety Michael Huff on Monday, according to a league source.
Heading into Sunday's game against the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, Huff worked out for the Bengals along with defensive tackles Christo Bilukidi and Kheeston Randall, guard John Sullen, linebacker Bruce Taylor and defensive back Brandon Burton.
Huff wasn't immediately signed to a contract as the Bengals signed Bilukidi while placing All-Pro defensive tackle Geno Atkins on injured reserve with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. However, the NFL voided the Bilukidi deal due to the Canadian lacking the proper work permit to work in the United States.
Is it possible that Bengals coach Marvin Lewis asked Huff a few questions about the Ravens' schemes while he had him in the building for a tryout? Certainly, but it's not a big deal for an NFL team to do so, and Lewis is already extremely familiar with the Ravens' schemes.
Huff was cut by the Ravens last week along with defensive lineman Marcus Spears and went unclaimed on waivers.
Huff was signed to a three-year, $6 million contract, including a $1.5 million signing bonus in March. He was benched and replaced by rookie Matt Elam after being beaten repeatedly for touchdowns during the Ravens' season-opening 49-27 loss to the Denver Broncos.
