Draughn has been spending extra time with running backs coach Wilbert Montgomery, learning the offense, and says he's ready to play Sunday against the Houston Texans if needed while running back Ray Rice is deals with a strained left hip flexor.

"Yeah, I think I'm pretty prepared," said Draughn, who rushed for 233 yards and two touchdowns, caught 24 passes for 158 yards and averaged 23 yards per kickoff return last season for the Chiefs. "I actually ran the same type of protections and some of the terms are exactly the same as what I did in Kansas City. It was real familiar for me to pick up.

"Protections are protections, it's just a matter of getting the terminology down. Most definitely, it was a good thing I was inactive the first week for me to pick things up. I met with [Montgomery] and Joe [Flacco] on Tuesday. I'm in my playbook a lot. I got to stay prepared, man."
