A pair of Ravens have earned nominations for weekly honors.
Ray Rice's 104-yard, two-touchdown performance in the team's 31-24 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday has earned the running back a spot as one of three finalists for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.
Rice is vying for the award with the Detroit Lions' Kevin Smith (140 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-35 win against the Carolina Panthers) and the Cleveland Browns' Chris Ogbonnaya (115 yards and one touchdown in a 14-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars).
Fans can vote at NFL.com/FedEx until the poll closes on Friday at 3 p.m. EST. The winner will be announced later that day during the NFL Network's "Around the League" show.
By virtue of his six-catch, 165-yard, one-touchdown performance against the Bengals, wide receiver Torrey Smith vaulted himself into the discussion for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award.
Smith's competition includes Miami Dolphins fullback Charles Clay (four passes for 69 yards and one touchdown in a 35-8 rout of the Buffalo Bills), Carolina Panthers defensive end Thomas Keiser (five tackles – all solo – and two sacks in the loss to the Lions), Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker (9-of-19 passing for 140 yards and two touchdowns in the second half in a 23-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons) and Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller (10 tackles – nine solo and three tackles for a loss – a forced fumble and two sacks in a 17-13 win against the New York Jets).
Fans can vote at NFL.com/rookies until the poll closes Friday at 12 p.m. EST. The winner will be announced later that day on the NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" show.
After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout January, and the winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
