Running back Ray Rice, who left Saturday's preseason game after two carries to get his shoulder examined, was practicing Monday as the Ravens got back to work following their 37-30 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Rice, who was diagnosed with a shoulder bruise, was participating in individual drills.

Cornerback Jimmy Smith was not on the practice field, becoming the latest defensive back to miss a workout. Smith suffered a chest injury Saturday defending a sideline incompletion to wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Smith, who was coughing up blood on the sideline, had a chest contusion and isn't expected to be sidelined for an extended period.

Tight end Owen Daniels was again missing from practice. He hasn't practiced since last Monday, though Harbaugh said the veteran is not injured.

Also missing from practice: offensive tackle Brett Van Sloten (undisclosed), guard Will Rackley (concussion), nose tackle Terrence Cody (hip) and cornerbacks Lardarius Webb (back) and Asa Jackson (foot).
