Ray Rice doesn't start, then hurts shoulder

When the Ravens finally took their first offensive snap at the 3:25 mark of the first quarter, Ray Rice was on the sideline. The coaching staff presumably opted to start Bernard Pierce to simulate the first two games of the regular season when Rice will be serving a suspension.
Rice finally got in early in the second quarter and he immediately reeled off an 18-yard run. However, after just two carries for a total of 21 yards, he went back to the locker room to have X-rays taken on his shoulder.
The X-rays were negative but Rice didn't return to the game. However, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that Rice just has a bruise and he didn't expect him to be sidelined for long.
