Ray Rice, Chris Canty active vs. Bills; Brandon Stokley out

Ravens running back Ray Rice is active for today's game against the Buffalo Bills, which isn't surprising since he practiced all week without any setbacks.

Rice is making his return from a strained left hip flexor after missing last week's game against the Houston Texans. Rice and coach John Harbaugh had described his status for today's game as a game-time decision.

"Barring setbacks, there's a chance I could be out there on Sunday," Rice said Friday. "I just obviously have to warm up and see how it feels and let coaches make the decision for me.

Defensive end Chris Canty (groin) is also active today after missing the Texans game.

Wide receiver Brandon Stokley is inactive due to a groin injury after being added to the injury report Friday. Wide receiver Deonte Thompson is active for the first time this season since spraining his left foot in the first preseason game.

What kind of workload will Rice have? On Friday, he said he would have his usual playing time that he divides with backup runner Bernard Pierce.

"I don't think anything will change," Rice said. "That's how we split our reps in practice. I always try to play a game like tempo and practice the reps like we're in a game. Me and Bernard switch it up. We try to honestly take care of each other. It's a long year."

The Ravens ruled out wide receiver Jacoby Jones (sprained right medial collateral ligament) earlier this week for the third consecutive game.

The Ravens also scratched safety Jeromy Miles, center Ryan Jensen (foot surgery), inside linebacker Arthur Brown (left pectoral strain), nose tackle Terrence Cody (sprained left knee) and offensive lineman Jah Reid.

Meanwhile, the Bills deactivated kicker Dustin Hopkins (right groin), cornerback Leodis McKelvin (hamstring), cornerback Stephon Gilmore (wrist), cornerback Ron Brooks (foot), offensive guard Doug Legursky (knee) and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (hand).
