The plastic is about to start popping as the sounds of football will commence today and Sunday at the Ravens' training camp.
After two days of non-contact drills, the Ravens will start hitting today and will be in full pads.
The Ravens will attempt to limit the risk of injury by not going down to the ground as much as possible. Inevitably, though, there will be major collisions on the practice fields at the Ravens' training complex.
It's a time for players to prove their toughness, display tackling and blocking techniques and impress the coaching staff under conditions that come much closer to simulating a game than non-contact workouts.
"Everybody is looking forward to it," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "That's the next step, so we'll see guys actually blocking people and getting off blocks. We'll still try to keep them off the ground.
"We'll do everything we can to keep them healthy in that sense, but they'll be banging a little bit harder and the collisions or the tussles that they have in there will be a little more for real, and it'll be a little more like real football."
