Ravens' Terrell Suggs looking strong in second practice back from injury

Ravens' Defensive Coordinator Dean Pees talks about Terrell Suggs' return to practice: "It was nice to see 55 out there." (Barbara Haddock Taylor/Baltimore Sun video)

I got a chance to watch Pro Bowl outside linebacker Terrell Suggs practice a few minutes ago, and I was impressed. Suggs looked good and in decent shape. I think he might have lost about 20 pounds since the start of training camp. I watched Suggs practice Monday, and he wasn't close to full tilt. He participated on a limited basis, but I couldn't tell if he was in good shape.

A better barometer would come today because the Ravens were in full gear and there would be swelling if the injury had not healed. But Suggs moved well, and was explosive off the ball. There was no hesitation on trying moves, and he ran hard in pursuit to the opposite side of the field.

When Suggs is overweight, the pounds show in a tight uniform. That was not the case Tuesday. Just as important, he was starting to yap a little, which showed he was returning to normal.

It was only his second practice back from being out of football for nearly a year, but everything appears to be positive surrounding the return of No. 55.
