Cornerback Lardarius Webb continues to make great strides in his return from knee surgery but as expected, he will not play tonight in the Ravens' preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
Webb, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last October, headlines a list of seven Ravens that were pronounced out by the team a little over an hour before kickoff.
None of the scratches were particularly surprising. Right guard Marshal Yanda (rotator cuff) and linebacker Jameel McClain (spine contusion) haven't practiced yet in training camp so there was no chance that either would play. Yanda and McClain are with the team on the trip and worked out on the field before the game.
Tight end Ed Dickson also was ruled out after he tore his hamstring in Sunday's practice. Head coach John Harbaugh said that Dickson will miss at least a week. With Dickson sidelined and Dennis Pitta expected to miss the entire season with a hip injury, veteran Visanthe Shiancoe is expected to start at tight end.
Wide receiver David Reed (groin) and defensive backs Omar Brown (undisclosed) and Chris Johnson (undisclosed) were also scratched from the game. They have not practiced the past couple of days although Harbaugh has said that their injuries are not long-term issues.
