FOXBOROUGH, MASS. — Ravens strong safety Matt Elam lost his starting job earlier this season partially because of his poor tackling.
Tackling was supposed to be the strength of the 2013 first-round draft pick's game, but that hasn't always been the case in the NFL.
Elam allowed New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola to shake free of a tackle attempt in the second quarter for a 15-yard touchdown catch during a 35-31 AFC divisional-round playoff game loss at Gillette Stadium.
Elam entered Saturday with a team-high 16 missed tackles along with 36 completions allowed on 50 passes thrown in his direction for 474 yards and two touchdowns for a 114.9 passer rating for opposing quarterbacks.
With his head down in the locker room after Saturday's game, Elam declined an interview request.
