Ravens re-sign Phillip Supernaw to practice squad, source says

The Ravens have signed tight end Phillip Supernaw to the practice squad, according to a league source.

Supernaw rejoined the Ravens after clearing waivers on Wednesday. He was cut from the roster on Tuesday.

Supernaw is recovering from a hamstring injury that sidelined him against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Supernaw first signed with the Ravens in May after being cut by the Houston Texans, for which he played for Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak.

Supernaw first signed with the Texans in 2012 after going undrafted out of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, where he was a four-year starter. He had been on and off their practice squad, playing in one regular-season NFL game with no catches.

At Ouachita Baptist, Supernaw caught 64 passes for 710 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore and was named first-team All-Gulf South Conference. He was later a two-time all-conference second-team selection.

Supernaw was cut by the Ravens during their final major roster cutdown before the season and joined their practice squad, was promoted last month to the active roster and is now back on the practice squad.
