The Ravens may ask rookies Ronnie Stanley and Alex Lewis to protect quarterback Joe Flacco's blind side in Sunday's season opener against the Buffalo Bills at 1 p.m. at M&T Bank Stadium. That sounds like an awfully risky proposition, but Lewis said he and his draft classmate are prepared for the challenge."Having Ronnie and myself over there, yeah, we're young, and yeah, there's going to be some growing pains along with it," said Lewis, who started at left guard for John Urschel (contusion) in the team's final three preseason games. "But we're both quick learners, we both love the game, we both study really well. All those little aspects are going to come together to show on the game on Sunday, and hopefully, we can perform well."If Lewis – the team's third fourth-round pick in April – joins Stanley, the sixth overall selection, they would be the first rookies to start at left guard and left tackle in a season opener since 1995, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. And that might be tantalizing to an opposing head coach like the Bills' Rex Ryan, whose reputation as an architect of exotic and relentless blitz packages made him a fan favorite when he was the defensive coordinator in Baltimore from 2005 to 2008.During a conference call with Baltimore media Wednesday, Ryan joked about revealing his game plan before getting serious about Stanley and Lewis."There is a reason why they drafted the kid out of Notre Dame," he said, referring to Stanley. "This just in, he's pretty darn good. There's no question about it. He's a great player. Our third-round pick [Adolphus Washington] is going to start for us as a defensive tackle, and we probably would have had two others start in the draft. So it's just the way it is. I think that's the way the game is. It's like, this is a young man that earns the right. The way he played, you knew he was going to start for whoever drafted him. So he's an outstanding player."And then the left guard from Nebraska, if he does start, that is going to be unusual. I've never seen it before where two guys start on the offensive line because that is tough. There's so much to it. But those two guys, I'm sure have done a great job studying and things. But it's not easy, that's for sure."Stanley, who was rated by Pro Football Focus as the top rookie tackle through three preseason games, said exhibition matchups against Indianapolis Colts outside linebacker Trent Cole and Detroit Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah have prepared him for Buffalo outside linebacker Jerry Hughes and others."I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he did that," Stanley said of the prospect of Ryan targeting him and Lewis. "I'm not going to overthink about that, but I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to bring some extra to our side."If the Ravens are concerned about starting Stanley and Lewis, they're not showing it."I'm not worried about that," right guard Marshal Yanda said. "We'll put the best five out there, and we're going to roll."
