Ravens met with receivers Brandin Cooks and Jordan Matthews

The Ravens met with Oregon State wide receiver Brandin Cooks and Vanderbilt wide receiver Jordan Matthews at the NFL scouting combine.

Cooks ran the fastest time of any wide receiver with a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash.

The Biletnikoff winner and consensus All-American caught 128 passes for 1,730 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. As a sophomore, Cooks had 67 catches for 1,151 yards and five touchdowns.

NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock called Cooks one of his favorite players, praising his "fantastic hands."

Mayock predicted that Cooks will go late in the first round or early in the second round.

"This kid's special with the ball in his hands," Mayock said.

Meanwhile, Matthews ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds. He had unofficial times of 4.40 and 4.44 seconds. It was faster than he was expected to run.

Matthews had 262 career receptions for 3,759 yards and 24 touchdowns. As a senior last season, Matthews recorded. 112 receptions for 1,477 yards and seven touchdowns.

“He ran fast, faster than I expected he would,” Mayock said. “I thought he was about a 4.5 guy coming off the Senior Bowl. I liked his tape at Vandy because he is the most productive player in SEC history, and then he goes out and runs a 4.4.

“I always say this is a cross-check. Don’t get too excited about a guy running around in shorts. It tells me I need to go back and watch some more of the Matthews tape from Vandy."
